Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mann: July 2026 Concert Dates
When Is the Philadelphia Orchestra Playing at the Mann This Summer?
The Philadelphia Orchestra performs three concerts at the TD Pavilion at Highmark Mann in West Fairmount Park this July - July 21, 22, and 24, 2026, all starting at 8 p.m. The lineup runs from the annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular with a fireworks finale to a Coltrane centennial tribute and a live Star Wars score.
You know the summer's actually arrived when the lawn at the Mann starts filling up with picnic blankets around 6:30 on a concert night. If you live anywhere near Fairmount or West Fairmount Park, you've probably heard the tail end of a rehearsal drift over the trees at least once without meaning to.
This is the Orchestra's classic July run at the Mann, the same three-concert pattern that shows up most summers, even if the specific programs change year to year.
The July 2026 Lineup
July 21 (Tuesday), 8 p.m. - Tchaikovsky Spectacular
The one people build their whole summer around. Conductor Xian Zhang leads Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with pianist Eric Lu, gold medalist at the 2025 Chopin International Competition, followed by the Suite from The Sleeping Beauty, a ballet that had its full U.S. premiere right here in Philadelphia back in 1937. The night closes with the 1812 Overture and a fireworks display over the park. Musicians of any age can also join the free pre-concert PlayIN and perform onstage alongside Orchestra members before the show.
July 22 (Wednesday), 8 p.m. - Coltrane 100: Legacy
Ravi Coltrane joins the Orchestra, conducted by Edwin Outwater, marking 100 years since his father John Coltrane's birth.
July 24 (Friday), 8 p.m. - Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert
Part of the Movies @ Highmark Mann series, the film plays across three large screens while the Orchestra performs the score live, conducted by Damon Gupton.
Picnics are welcome at every show, and lawn seating is where most of the regulars end up, bring a blanket, skip the folding chairs (most seasons the Mann asks you to leave those at home for sightline reasons), and get there early enough to actually enjoy the setup instead of scrambling for space.
Why the Location Actually Matters
The Mann sits inside West Fairmount Park, a few minutes from Belmont and Montgomery Avenues, where the venue offers free grass parking on concert nights, not something you can say about most Philly summer events. If you're in Fairmount, Parkside, or the Art Museum area, this is a walk-or-short-drive situation rather than a whole production.
That's part of what makes a neighborhood like Fairmount hold its value the way it does. You're not paying extra for "close to the museum" as a line on a listing sheet, you're paying for the actual experience of hearing the 1812 Overture's fireworks finale from three blocks away on a Tuesday night in July.
If you're weighing whether a spot near Fairmount Park is worth it, for the park access, the walkability, or just nights like this one, connecting with our team is a good way to actually look at what's available nearby and talk through whether the location earns its price tag.
